It's been a long time since my last post. As we finalize our beta version It's been a busy time. I found myself working morning to middle of the night almost without stepping out side of my door. Besides throwing my social life to the toilet, I also didn't find the time to get updated on my blogs/emails reading list.
After not reading regularly for almost two weeks, I found myself facing with a approx 2000+ unread items. This is a major issue. I know it is very important for me to read them, but it will probably take me some time to tackle this amount of items. I really need a way to read first the most important posts.
This could be a really cool and important feature for RSS readers out there. The problem is: How do I know what is important and what not?
I turns out the answer is not so complex.
Think of the following combination to determine the importance of a post:
- The ability to define certain words or phrases that makes a post more important.
- Number of times the post has been digged/scaped/delicious/etc
All I have to say is that I wish I had the time to write this cool feature. Unfortunately - I don't. So... if anyone of you out there will take the job, besides getting my honest love, I really believe you can have a really cool app. It's amazing to see that although RSS is getting more and more important in our life, we almost don't see any innovation in RSS readers. They all look and feel almost the same.
Actually this is an interesting question - What features you would want to see in the perfect RSS reader? I would love to hear your ideas.
P.S
I'm using Onfolio which is the free offline RSS reader that comes with Windows Live Toolbar. Although it lacks the feature I describes, it is still a very cool app and I highly recommend it for all of you who still use IE.
