This week I subscribed to the Wall Street Journal. It's been a while since I wanted to do that. One of my fears was that I'm already in a state of information overhead and adding the Journal will just make it worse.
One of the things that convinced me of subscribing is the fact that the WSJ offers a total satisfaction guarantee. If you don't enjoy the subscription, you may cancel it at any time, and get a full refund for the remaining time.
So yes, you can say that the only reason they offer this is the fact that the print business is dying, yada yada yada... But the main point here is not the Journal itself. Is that companies need to believe in their products. They should strive to have customers stay customers because they get value of their products, and not becuase they are tied to 2 year contracts.
The first mobile carriear who will offer an exit now option with no penalty will win customers in a rapid pace. I prefer to pay a little extra and have the freedom to choose the products and services I use.
